The District Lead Volunteer manages and supports the Scouting in the District to ensure it runs effectively and that Scouting in East Norfolk develops and offers good quality experiences for young people and proactively supports adults in District and Scout Group roles.

Shelly has held a variety of roles at Group, District and County level for over 24 years and has had the opportunity to be the Director of Activities for NORJAM Jamboree in 2014 and 2018 and the Sub-camp Leader of Valley of the Kings and Eco-T in 2006 and 2010.

The Deputy District Lead Volunteer (Development) works in partnership with the District Lead Volunteer to manage and support Scouting in the District and has oversight of all areas of work that support adult roles including the Scout Active Support Unit.

Gillian has been involved in Scouting for 47 years with Scout Group, District and County roles and is bringing her vast experience to the Deputy District Commissioner role for a second time and continuing to support the Active Support Unit too.

The Deputy District Lead Volunteer (Support) works in partnership with the District Lead Volunteer to manage and support Scouting in the District and has a specialist bias to improve the public image of Scouting in East Norfolk and coordinate the content of the District website.

Glenn started Scouting as a Cub some 36 years ago. He has moved through the sections achieving his Queen Scout Award in 1999. Glenn has held a number of Scouting roles over the years and has been fortunate to hold a Directorship in Media and Communications for NORJAM 2010, 2014 and 2018.

As a member of the District Leadership Team, the District Youth Team Lead works in partnership with the District Lead Volunteer and Chairperson of the District Board of Trustees. The role is to ensure that young people from 4-25 years are involved and engaged in every decision that shapes their Scouting experience.

District 14 – 24 Team Lead

As a member of the District Leadership Team, the District Youth Team Lead works in partnership with the District Lead Volunteer and Chairperson of the District Board of Trustees. The role is to ensure that young people from 4-25 years are involved and engaged in every decision that shapes their Scouting experience.


Harri is a Queen’s Scout Award achiever, who leads Nelson Explorer Unit and also assists with the Beaver Colony at 1st Gorleston.  She is the chair of the District Events Team.

The District 14 – 24 Team Lead is the Manager of the Scout Network Section and is responsible for proactively enabling Scout Network members, aged 18 to 25, to shape and participate in the Scout Network programme and achieve the top awards of the Scout Association.

Liam has held a variety of roles, having started with the Cubs at 2nd Gorleston, he has moved onto to management roles for both the District and the County. For over 10 years has worked to support young people from 6 to 25, with particular focus on the provision of Scouting delivery and development of Young Leaders to offer opportunities across Norfolk

The Programme Team Lead (Beavers) works in partnership with the District Team Lead Volunteer to ensure the effective operation of the Beaver Section in their District and supports the delivery of Scouting programme to young people aged 6 to 8.

Amanda has been a member of Scouts since 2007and has worked with Beaver Scouts at 1st Great Yarmouth Scout Group from day one. However in the last few years Amanda has also worked as an Explorer Leader with Victory Explorer Scout Unit

The Programme Team Lead (Cubs) works in partnership with the District Lead Volunteer to ensure the effective operation of the Cub Section in their District and supports the delivery of Scouting programme to young people aged 8 to 10.5.

Michelle started in Scouting as a parent helper when her son was nine, he is now a thirty-year-old leader, and they work in the Cub Pack together.  Michelle has been the ADC Cubs in East Norfolk since 2017 and is the Akela at 1st Gorleston Scout Group.

The Programme Lead (Scouts) works in partnership with the District Lead Volunteer to ensure the effective operation of the Scout Section in their District and supports the delivery of Scouting programme to young people aged 10.5 to 14.

Sue started her Scouting adventure as a Venture Scout in the old Great Yarmouth District and moved into leadership in 1988, working with the Scout section at 1st Martham and is still at the same Scout Group in addition to working as ADC Scouts for over 10 years.

The Programme Lead -(Scouts) works in partnership with the District Lead Volunteer to ensure the effective operation of the Scout Section in their District and supports the delivery of Scouting programme to young people aged 10.5 to 14.

Carrie has worked in Scout Groups since 2005 in the Scout section and joined Sue in the ADC Scouts role in 2018.  Carrie is the Scout Leader at 2nd Gorleston Scout Group too

The Programme Team Lead (Explorers) is the Manager of the Explorer Scout Section. They are responsible for its effective operation and for the development of quality Explorer Scouting in the District and supports the delivery of Scouting programme to young people aged 14 to 18.


Sarah joined Scouting in 2010 from a Guiding background, becoming a Brownie in 1990.  Sarah holds a variety of roles in both East Norfolk as the Explorer Scout Leader of Marsh Harrier ESU and North East Norfolk as an Assistant District Commissioner for the Scout section. In her spare time Sarah supports Norfolk Scouts as the social media guru.

The Nights Away Adviser supports adults to gain a Night’s Away Permit and provides general advice on camping and residential matters. Gerry promotes nights away opportunities in East Norfolk District, specialising in the Scout and Explorer, Greenfield and Expedition Permits.

Gerry has held many roles at Scout Group and District level for the past 32 years and is the Group Scout Leader at 1st Gorleston Scout Group and an Explorer Leader with the partnered Nelson Explorer Unit. 

The Nights Away Adviser supports adults to gain a Night’s Away Permit and provides general advice on camping and residential matters.

Teo promotes nights away opportunities in East Norfolk District, specialising in the Cub and Beaver Indoor and Campsite Permits.

Teo was a Cub and a Scout as a child and became a leader over 10 years ago to support the Cub section at 2nd Gorleston Scout Group and still enjoys working with the Cub Pack as well as supporting at a District level.  Teo was also a photographer in the media team at NORJAM 2018.

The Chair leads the Board of Trustees, ensuring that it fulfils its responsibilities to support the operation of the District.  The Chair works closely with the District Lead Volunteer to achieve the purpose of The Scout Association through the development of local Scouting, in accordance with the Policy, Organisation and Rules of The Scout Association.


Danny has 34 years’ service to Scouting in the District as Scout Leader, Assistant District Commissioner for Venture Scouts, the forerunner of the Explorer and Network sections and also as District Commissioner.  Danny has been a major player in NORJAM for six Jamborees working as the Director of Subcamps and as part the activities directorate in 2014 and 2018.

The Welcome Team Lead supports the work of the Welcome Team and the District Lead Volunteer to ensure sound administration and support of new adults joining the Scout Groups of East Norfolk.

Angie has been Scouting for the past fiveyears, however has moved from a Girlguiding background since she joined as a young girl in Brownies. Angie has held many Girlguiding roles and has held two Directorships in Administration for NORJAM 2014 and 2018.
