Nights Away Looking for the Photography Competition?Click here to go to the competition page. A Nights Away experience is the aspect of the Scout programme that is most popular with both young people and leaders alike. It can be camping in a tent, a sleepover in a Scout HQ or part of a District, County or International event. Sometimes Scouts theme the nights away experiences. A theme ties the event together – it can apply it to activities, decorations, and even the clothes everyone wears. Camps can also focus on a badge (for example, a space themed camp to complete the Astronomer Activity Badge), or young people could pick something random like a story everyone knows to shape their own event. When planning a Night’s Away Experience, Leaders must always: Complete a risk assessment for the residential experience Have the right ratios of number of adults to supervise young people Set up an InTouch plan to manage communications Know what to do in an emergency Get parental consent with a signed activity information form Get approval from the District Commissioner CLICK HERE to access the Scout Association full guidance.
